Hispanics Show the Most Potential For Growth in Cellular Phone Applications

"Hispanics are outpacing others in navigating the newest horizons of the wireless world.  They're placing greater importance on taking pictures with their phones and sending text messages far and wide, according to market research companies."
"They are more likely to have unplugged their land lines altogether.  And when compared with the general market, they shell out 10% more money for their wireless bills, according to some estimates."

                                     - Sara Miller Llana, The Christian Science Monitor

Recent surveys and studies show that African Americans and Hispanic Americans are the heaviest users of cell phones.  Moreso, the growth rates for these ethnic groups are faster than any other.  For instance, Hispanics use their phone for an average of 979 minutes and their growth rate is about 13%.  Respectively, Caucasian Americans used their phone for about 630 minutes.

"Overall growth in cell phone usage demonstrates a robust consumer demand for newer and better wireless products and services."

Some Things To Consider:

     - Hispanics Cell Phone Bills are on the average 10% higher than other groups
     - Hispanics, as a whole, rate more-advanced cell phone features such as cell phone cameras, video capabilities, connectability to other devices, as more important than mainstream America.

When considering  these trends, Hispanics are more likely to embrace a new application for their cell phones. They already use applications more than African Americans or Caucasian Americans and are predicted to continue to grow in this market. This makes them a must-hit target audience with cell phone and cell phone application companies.
